| $10,000 for a Website!? |

I had spent years in the IT (Information Technology) field and was working for a private consulting firm at the time. The boss wanted me to handle getting a website so I asked a lot of questions and made a list of features needed. They needed an easy, non-"techie" way for them to go in and update things, a calendar with special events that show on the home page, and a spot for promotions. I requested a bid and it came back for over $10,000! You think that is outrageous? I thought so too! I set out on a quest to find a cheaper way (I had become quite the Internet researcher over the years) and I began learning about Content Management Systems and how easy it made things for regular users to manage their website, even without knowing html (web code). Then I had to sort through several CMS to find the best one. This eventually led to me making my first Joomla! site that had all the features needed. The best part? Joomla! is free - and unlike many web designers out there we will not charge you for it and pretend we wrote it from scratch. I have since learned that many designers use the free software of others, but do not pass on the savings to their customers. I became so frustrated with the gross overcharging of web-design companies that I started OpenPotion, a company that is honest and transparent about what is going into your website. We only charge you for our work, and not for the free work of others. Find out how companies get away with over-charging thousands of dollars - checkout our article "The Truth About Web Design Companies." Sometimes websites cost millions (think Ebay, or Amazon), but realize that you do not always need to spend thousands just to get a great website. Give us a call, so we can get started! Jason |
