Would you build a house from scratch?

Many website designers still build websites in a way that is comparible to someone starting to build a house by chopping down trees.  Rediculous right?  A custom site from scratch takes an incedible amount of time, is expensive, can have serious quality and security issues, and it makes you a slave to your web-designer's proprietary system forever.  Don't drink the kool-aid!  Welcome to OpenPotion.  Here is how we build websites...

Hosting/Support

Our base Joomla Support rate is $35/month, which covers support on the Joomla! CMS system and using your website, and also includes our standard hosting FREE!

We also have $65/month Hosting/Support/Design plan (just $30 more) that includes 1 hour/month of website design work ($75 value) for those that would like us to make changes from time to time.

Using Third-Party Bargain Hosting

We usually host all of our clients websites to ensure we can properly administer their site. This is because we keep our operation small and lean so we can provide low prices (and still make a profit). However... we do allow clients to use a third-party host even though we reccomend against it.

Please note that bargain hosting providers will only support their hosting and do not support your website or 3rd party software.  They also may claim to provide "unlimited" storage and bandwidth, however the catch is usually in the number of "concurrent connections," which makes any "unlimited" aspect a pointless marketing gimmick.  Our hosting fee includes Joomla! support, so you can feel comfortable with all the tools your new OpenPotion website will provide.

Since we may not be as familiar with the third-party host's system and usually have to wait on the other company, or the client for certain tasks and settings to be completed or provided, this can slow down site development and therefore, we have to calculate additional time and cost into your site quote.

In addition we would still either need to charge a monthly support fee (our basic fee, minus a few dollars for the hosting) or bill you hourly at our standard hourly rate, which may make your monthly costs even higher.

Every website is a custom project and has a custom price.  A simple site with standard textual content is quite inexpensive and would only take us a couple hours, but would not be as eefective as a site that has some interaction built in. A site that requires several plugins, features, and images, could be a few thousand dollars,  but could easily save a business over $20,000 a year.  Contact us and we will put together a custom package that works well for you.
